Steve,

I got my setup running. At one point I installed python 2.7.2 myself and it was not compiled correctly. I just deleted the user installed version which is quite easy. Apparently the user installed versions are segregated from the versions installed by the OS. Once I did that the OS version took over and it now works (WOOT).

Wiping the user-installed python is easy. Just delete:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.Framework

To do this from terminal you can type:
rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/Python.Framework

Hope that helps you.

Is Moviegrabber suppose to move any films downloaded from the sabnzbd's completed folder to a final storage place or do any post processing. Also what happens with the metadata that Moviegrabber downloads? Is it merged with the movie. I just a little foggy on this. Thanks.

hi btlupin, i believe your issue maybe to do with this :-

Unknown option: -p

what are you specifying as the commandline to run moviegrabber?, it should simply be python moviegrabber.py, im assuming your running something like python -p moviegrabber.py?, im not sure what option p does?.

roontoon, many thanks for posting your fix btw!, it really does help to have people post fixes as well as issues :-).

oh yeah and happy new year to you all.

binhex.

hi roontoon, there is no post processing done by moviegrabber, so you would need to move the folder manually if you wanted and also copy any metadata to the destination folder (metadata is stored in your specified metadata folder in moviegrabber).

having said that i do have a very old script that i use, its very rough but it does work, you can grab it here, just set sabnzbd+ to run this script in configuration/switches/default user script

download is here:-

http://sourceforge.net/projects/moviegr ... y/download

open with python editor and change the values at the top section of the script and save, disclaimer no support on this at the mo :-)

If a movie is in history and has failed for a certain reason is there a way to ignore the fact it failed and send it to sabnzbd. Sometimes I want to watch the movie even if it doesn't meet my config standards.

Also is it possible to highlight "skipped movie" in red and "downloading movie" in green so you can overview quickly.

I created an account here just to thank you for this application. It's fantastic and I've been telling all my HTPC acquaintances about it.

I'm using it on a Windows 7 machine with absolutely no problems.

I have a couple of questions.

For my own clarification, all of my movies are stored on an external hard drive at I:\Movies\. Most are titled like this Win Win (2011) for both the folder and the file itself. Is that title sufficient for a "already downloaded" check? I see that you say the folder has to match the imdb title, so I assumed the year in title was okay too. I just want to know if I need to change my naming conventions for the folder and file going into the future. I noticed when I was configuring the program and running tests that duplicate retrievals occurred in MovieGrabber. Would be great if MG had a database of what it has retrieved to prevent this, though they might be prevented if my "already downloaded" movies check is configured properly.

I see some overlap with CouchPotato and MovieGrabber. Today, they each started downloading Real Steel at the same time. I see a favorite titles list in MovieGrabber, that although not as full-featured as CP, could replace CP if it works as I assume. If I entered in the title Take Shelter in that favorite titles list, that would override any of my good definitions criteria, but would the favorites title remain in that field, or be removed after downloading? CP still has too many things going for it for me to leave it (userscript, quality preferences, interactive input field) but MovieGrabber has more of the functionality I'm looking for (true automation). Do you see MovieGrabber's future as addressing any of these overlap issues?

Feature Request:

1.) I'm not sure what imdb allows, but can you also track writers in addition to directors, actors, etc.? Are there other fields you've left out? My wife loves the screenwriter Andrew Davies, so it would be fantastic to track that criterion also.

2.) I would also love some color-coding in the history page that makes it easier to see what has been downloaded vs. what was declined.

3.) The MovieGrabber homepage, after being configured, might be better as a place to showcase the latest movies downloaded.

4.) What if in the history tab you had an option to force download? When looking through the history section, I could imagine seeing a movie that may not have met my imdb threshold but for whatever reason I want to download anyway.

5.) Any chance input fields like favorite titles, directors, or actors could be more interactive like CouchPotato? If I enter in an actress's name, it searches imdb and brings up a little drop down list where I can select the correct person, and then the correct spelling of that person is inputted in the field. I could imagine another page entirely in MovieGrabber that displays your favorites with thumbnails for the titles and people you're interested in.

6.) My biggest dream-feature...... support for television shows. One thing I miss from back in the days when I used Windows Media Center was the ability to enter an actor's name and see what they were going to be in. It might be a talk-show, guest appearance on a different show, some lifetime movie (Terry O'Quinn), or otherwise. I don't think this would make sense in MovieGrabber, but I just had to mention it.

I hope you understand that I love MovieGrabber and my list of features I'd want is a testament to how well it works, at least for me, since I'm having no issues with it. Thanks again.

hi btlupin, can you see any moviegrabber_error.log files or moviegrabber_warning.log files in the logs folder if so can you post it here?, can you post the entire python error message your seeing or is the error you posted earlier all that is shown, as roontoon's post of the python error he had looks much more detailed. one other thing you can try is to run moviegrabber on a different machine running os lion and see if it runs ok, if you dont recieve any error message then you know the issue is something on that machine.

hi mikie, answers as follows:-

with the current release no, however this has been requested previously and its at the top of my list of to-do's

Also is it possible to highlight "skipped movie" in red and "downloading movie" in green
good suggestion and one that ive been thinking about myself, i probably will go for red = skipped orange = queued and green = downloaded not sure how im going to implement this quite yet but i will take a look.

hi seagullcanfly, wow monster post :-), ok replies as follows:-

Most are titled like this Win Win (2011) for both the folder and the file itself. Is that title sufficient for a "already downloaded" check?
yes this would match, the only thing you will need to check is that you have "enable append year" set to "yes" in configuration/switches, just to confirm the check is only done against the foldername NOT the filename at present.

would the favorites title remain in that field, or be removed after downloading?
the favorites title will remain there and doesnt get automatically removed, however if you have downloaded movie checking switched on then this shouldnt be an issue as the already download movie check will always override favorites.

the overlap your seeing with CP and moviegrabber is a strange one, moviegrabber does have further checks against your specified "nzb folder" which should contain the archived nzb file, so when CP downloaded the movie (assuming this downloaded first) moviegrabber should of skipped the movie as the nzb already exists in the nzb folder, however if movigrabber downloaded the movie first then i guess it is possible CP then also downloaded the movie, not sure what checks CP does, you would need to talk to the dev of CP to find out. i think the short answer is ideally use either CP or moviegrabber only :-).

CP still has too many things going for it for me to leave it (userscript, quality preferences, interactive input field)
personally quality preference isnt something i really need as i only want either bluray or dvdrips, not a mix but i understand some people are fine with this.
not sure what is meant by interactive input fields in CP and can you give me an example of a userscript that you find useful as im interested to see what sort of thing you think is missing in moviegrabber, maybe i can accomodate it.

but can you also track writers in addition to directors, actors, etc.?
looks like imdb do have this information, i will need to check the json feed to see if this information is available, if so i can include this

I would also love some color-coding in the history page that makes it easier to see what has been downloaded vs. what was declined.
im on this, its on my list of to-do's

The MovieGrabber homepage, after being configured, might be better as a place to showcase the latest movies downloaded.
nice idea, i will add it to my list

What if in the history tab you had an option to force download?
nice idea, again on my list :-)

Any chance input fields like favorite titles, directors, or actors could be more interactive like CouchPotato?
a nice idea, probably a fair chunk of code to implement so i would need to have a good think about this.

My biggest dream-feature...... support for television shows
i think this is unfortunately out of the scope of moviegrabber, perhaps tvgrabber could be my next project after this :-)

glad your enjoying moviegrabber :-)

[quote="binhex"]hi seagullcanfly, wow monster post :-), ok replies as follows:-

"already downloaded"
I'm having trouble with the already downloaded section. Movie Grabber doesn't seem to check my external hard drive to see if the title exists already, or I don't have something set up properly. I know I didn't have the nzb section set up correctly, but that hasn't resolved the issue. Still have movie grabber downloading real steel everytime it pops up, and then sabnzbd downloads it and appends a .1 for the copy (e.g. Real Steel (2011).1.mkv). Under movies it is checked yes for checking for already downloaded movies. The folder is just an external drive I:\Movies . Not sure what to do, any suggestions?

the overlap your seeing with CP and moviegrabber is a strange one, moviegrabber does have further checks against your specified "nzb folder" Thanks for that. I had glossed over the nzb folder requirement, not really understanding it. I never saved the nzb files before, so now I've set up a folder which hopefully will prevent double, simultaneous downloads in the future.

personally quality preference isnt something i really need as i only want either bluray or dvdrips, not a mix but i understand some people are fine with this.
I'm not sure if your program is able to do it, but what situation I'm referring to would be something like wanting a copy of Equilibrium, saying I prefer HD, but if only a Divx version is available then download that, hopefully with the ability to retain that movie in a wishlist until the HD version is released.

not sure what is meant by interactive input fields in CP and can you give me an example of a userscript that you find useful as im interested to see what sort of thing you think is missing in moviegrabber, maybe i can accomodate it.

By interactive input fields I might be leaning more towards an eye candy factor than something useful, but when I input a movie to watch for in couchpotato it seems to use something like IMDB's api to find the actual title. Say if I entered in The Matrix in MovieGrabber, I could just write that in there, but if I really wanted the Matrix Revolutions, a dropdownlist appears in CouchPotato with versions of the Matrix it has found in a search. That way I can make sure I've selected the correct version.

There is a userscript with CP that for me is just a google chrome extension which gives me easy access to adding movies when browsing a site like IMDB or RottenTomatoes. It's just a little button that pops up in the bottom right hand corner that lets me add the movie. CP also has a trakt.tv watchlist integration which allows me to put movies in my trakt watchlist and it automatically adds them to my CP movies wanted list. Essentially I think the appeal of MovieGrabber is different for me because I don't have to keep abreast of all possible good movies that are being released. But the other focus of having a place to record the names of movies I am interested in is important too, as I sometimes watch crappy movies just because I was into the trailer or somebody recommended it.

looks like imdb do have this information, i will need to check the json feed to see if this information is available, if so i can include this

That's awesome, thanks. I hope others would find that useful too. I could see myself using that for writers like Christopher Nolan, also.

color-coding.
Thanks on this too. Noticed afterwards that others had already requested that.

Any chance input fields like favorite titles, directors, or actors could be more interactive like CouchPotato?
a nice idea, probably a fair chunk of code to implement so i would need to have a good think about this.

Wish I could help. I'm on exercise 35 of Learn Python the Hard Way so I'm basically in awe of anyone that can do more than make a choose your own adventure text game.

Ooooh, TV grabber!

Thanks again.
