@perstranger
You wrote earlier that the problem was introduced by 0.7.3 (because 0.7.2 is OK).
There's only change I can find that may have a relation with this.
In 0.7.0, the option "random_server_ip" was added. This picks a random IP for servers that have multiple IPs.
This lead to problems with some Usenet providers, so subsequently 0.7.3
replaced this with the option "randomize_server_ip", which is off by default.

The following would be an instructive test:
Install 0.7.2 and check the "random_server_ip" option. It's probably "on".
Now set it "off" and see whether that reproduces the bad 0.7.4 behaviour.
Vice versa, install 0.7.4 and set "randomize_server_ip" to "on" and see whether that fixes things.
The options can be found in Config->Special.
Note that both options will be in the sabnzbd.ini file, but only one will be used (0.7.0/1/2 vs. 0.7.3/4).

I have turned random_server_ip on and so far it's still working on 0.7.2

It should have been al along, unless you turned it off yourself.
The test would be to turn it off and see whether the 0.7.4 behaviour is triggered.
Vice versa: 0.7.4 with randomize_server_ip on, should show the expected 0.7.2 good behaviour.

Sorry meant off, no change.

I have looked through the differences between 0.7.2 and 0.7.3 again.
There are no changes that can explain the difference in behaviour between the two.
The only exception is the randomize_server_ip change.
Since, according to you, the problem isn't solved by turning the option on,

I have no further suggestions to solve it.
Theoretically it is possible that one change has some nasty side-effect.
Solving it made almost impossible by the fact that, a) I cannot reproduce the issue at all and b) very few people report it.

To repeat it again. Is the crucial difference between 0.7.2 and 0.7.3 for you both?

For Windows and Linux nothing but the source code has changed.
For OSX, the build method has changed between 0.7.2, 0.7.3 and 0.7.4.

I have the same problem since I've reinstall my system (from AMD X2-4200+ 4GB to i5-3570K 16GB, still Win7 x64 Pro)
On my old PC I was on 0.7.1 version
I've installed 0.7.4 on the the one, replace the configuration file of the new PC by the old one, change 1 path, and it worked.
But, after some hours/days, my download speed decrease, from 580KB to 400KB or even less
I've reinstall the 0.7.1, stille the problem
I'm on Giganews, and I us the giganews accelerator program.
I tried to desactivate it, and, strangely, it worked !!!.... but not for long
2 days after, again the problem of download speed...
Downloading a file on internet goes to 580-600KB, but sabnzbd still stuck to 450-400KB, even less...
If I looked at the task manager/network, I can see that the network connection graph is not clean, far from a strait line even if my current downloads are quite big files.
I know that it is not my connection because on regular dowload the network connection is ok, nearly a strait line.
I've just reinstall 0.7.4, and now my speed is 520-480KB... What is the problem ?

I don't want to go back to grabit ....

@CaiRve
Do you have an article cache in Config->General?
Use at least a value of 200M.

since my message, the dl speed falls to 200KB...
I have restart it several times,no changes.
article cache was set to 128M, I set it to 200M : no changes. ...
the strange thing is that it worked on my 5,5 years old computer and not on my 1 week one :-(

Have you tried the older 0.7.x versions, like 0.7.2 and 0.7.3?
It would be useful to test these versions, because the experience of other people in this thread seems
to indicate that something introduced in 0.7.3 is the root cause.

Hi,

I've found the solution.
It was a software from Asus, becacause I had installed all the software for my motherbord (P8Z77v-Pro).
In this pack of software, there is a software (Network iControl) which analyses the network, and it seems that is was this piece of crap who badly analyses the internet trafic.
So I have desactivated it, and now everything seems to be OK.
more informations : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/312 ... oad-speeds

You can also desactivate the "WinpkFilter Device Driver" in the configuration of the network card

Hope it can help people who have installed all the AI Suite II of Asus

Thanks for your help shypike, sorry for the disturb.

Good that it's solved for you.
However, the complaint from the others is different; they can pinpoint to two different versions
of SABnzbd with different behaviour under otherwise identical circumstances.

I have been using 0.7.4 with randomize_server_ip set to on for days and I have not had any problems. It appears to have fixed the problem.

That's good news.
It also leaves me puzzled as to why it didn't hit you when using older versions.
Which was your first SABnzbd version?
When did you start using your current Usenet provider and with which SABnzbd version?
