Streaming Support / Unix Temporary File Permissions

Post by dreamscene »

Hello,

First off - let me thank you for all the time and effort that has been put into the development of sabnzbd. It is truly the best, most versatile and flexible usenet downloader in existence. I have been using it for years now.

Not sure if my issue is actually a feature request or rather a bug report, so please feel free to move the thread if it does not belong here.
I have been waiting for a possibility to set the permissions on temporary files (previously requested here) to be implemented for a while, so I could stop using a cronjob like the OP of the linked thread.

The new special switches page brought the previously available "allow streaming" option to my attention. While I would not want the changes it actually provides (barring files from post-processing), I thought it might also take care of permissions for temporary files, which is doesn't.
So I guess this could also be seen as a bug, as without proper file permissions it is impossible to stream on a "sane" (read: with a secure user / permission setup) *nix installation.

TL;DR
Please implement an option to set the permissions for temporary files.

I already greatly welcome the changes the new beta brings so far (except for the more and more apparent notion that the skins will be unified at some point, causing me to lose my beloved smpl black). Keep up the good work :).

Regards,
