latest version list still shows 0.7.6Beta

I've posted a couple times here, I maintain a plug-in that installs and updates sabnzbd for unRAID. Part of the way I detect updates and allow installing beta updates is checking for the beta string at
http://sabnzbd.org/version/latest
With the rollover to 0.7.10, the old beta 0.7.6Beta2 now is "greater than" the latest stable release, which is really the only reliable way I have of checking which is newer. My question is, could the beta release not be removed from /version/latest since we are now 4 revisions above it?
I realize the release dates are given, but are they reliable enough to use? And will they be there all the time now? I seem to remember not seeing them in the past.
