I have noticed in the last few versions that the drop-down menus in the queue (to choose category, priority, etc) sometimes close very quickly so you are unable to make a choice... usually after a few tries they do stay open long enough to make a choice but it does get annoying at times... I have noticed that the selection shading changes when the the menu closes prematurely so that the queue entry does not show as selected in case that helps...
I have noticed this behavior on Firefox and IE on Windows 7.
Is there anything that can be adjusted to fix this?

I do see this on OSX, not on Windows.
It's a browser issue as far as I can tell.
Do check the "Block Refresh on Hover" option in the Options popup.
It should be on.
A work-around is to use the cursor keys to select the option in the menu.
