access SABNZBD on NAS on smartphone 3G

Post by MacD72 »

I have a Qnap NAS and I can do a lott with it already.
The only thing I can not manage to access on my mobile through 3G or through another PC. Within the network I can get through wifi with my smartphone my Qnap approach and play files (Play files from Qnap through my media player without problems and from home PC also to approach and adapt) and view and even using SABnzbd on the smartphone to download files to the Qnap. I also can see in the app how much gb I have on the internal HD of de NAS.

I myself think it has to do with port forwarding in the router hence the following description:
I have the Qnap directly connected to my modem from te profider, it is a Thomson modem. I have given the Qnap a fixed IP address, not by DHCP.

What I should do is the following:

Internal External
IP Address Start Port End Port IP Address Start Port End Port Prot (both) Description Enabled (yes / no)

But where am I supposed to fill in what ip address?
standard gateway ip address?
my IP address through which you see "my IP" gets through web browser?
the fixed ip address Qnap.

I also have been reading things about switch mode of the modem do I have to do something with that? IPv4 or IPv6 or both or off?

Im not gonna go in to details as I don't have time. But quick hints for you are this.

1. If you wish to connect via the Internet/WAN then you really should have a static WAN IP or use a Dynamic DNS service such as: http://www.noip.com/free/ otherwise you need to ensure you Internet IP doesn't get changed by your ISP if you have a dodgy ADSL connection that drops out or after a router reboot gets issued a new IP.

2. If you wish to setup port forwarding then example URL to connect to my SAB install is: http://myfreednsname:8085/

This means my SAB runs on port 8085 so if I wish to connect to it I have to use that exact URL.

Your start port and end port will be 8085 in this example and your IP address you are forwarding this port number to is the NAS's LAN IP the static IP the NAS uses on the network. This is so when you access your WAN IP using port 8085 the router knows to pass this through to the NAS's LAN IP for it to deal with.

Try using http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/ for help if you get stuck.
