Downloading files from college campus connection

Post by Flesh-Dryer »

So i was fed up of not getting newzleecher to work w/ ipv6 via sixxis....and funny thing is i kept using these forums as my reference for getting it to work... so finally i switched to this program and.... damn... i was retarded for not switching sooner...

Anyways, long story short, i can get news.ipv6.eweka.nl to work at home on port 119, but when i got to my school, or my gf's school (i use a laptop btw ;-])....it can't connect. I've tried to switch ports; 23, 25, 80, 119, 443, 563, 1119... and still no good :(. I think i still need to try 1080, 7000, 8000, 8080, and 9000 (read from another forum that some servers use those ports as well), but i don't think i'll get anywhere with those. Whenever i try a new port, sab will say "waiting for localhost...." and kinda hang for 5 mins or so before i get errors.... I'm on a win xp machine w/ sixxis running 24/7.

I'm a big time newbie so if something i've written just doesn't add up, it's my ipv6/SABnzbd+ status of freshmeat ..... :)

but i would love to get this working at my gf's school cuz the speeds i get there max at 2.25 MB/s!!!!! like 8 times faster than my connection at home (i can't top 660 kbps EVER).

edit: here's the error msg list:

Make sure the ports you are using work on your home connection before you bother to try them elsewhere. There is no guarantee the server is set up to accept anything other than port 119.

Either your school is blocking newsgroup packets/ports or the ipv6 does not work on their network. There isn't much I can suggest to you without approaching the admins at your school as it is their network.

Maybe try opening command prompt (start>run: cmd) and entering this to see if you have ipv6 connectivity.

Code: Select all

ping ipv6.google.com

I thought sixxis could be tunneled anywhere? It works at my school, her school is a bit lame and doesn't seem to let me use it. Kame.net isn't dancing, nor can i ping to google via ipv6. But i do know that a lot of those ports, other than 119 worked at home although i can't remember which ports worked.

I've had the program Tor for a while, but never learned how to use it, is there anyway i can implement that to make this a working situation?
