Category saving/TV sorting query

I'm downloading both films & TV shows, & I'm having a slight issue I'm sure can be solved, I'm just not sure how.

My folder hierarchy is this (example show names of course):

E:\TV SHOWS\Show A\Season 1\Show A.S01E01.avi

I've enabled TV sorting, yet although the shows end up in 'E:\TV SHOWS' they are set up in their own folder, due to the release group formatting. 90% of my shows are from one release group & they release nzb's like this:

#Release group name - Req number - SHOW A.S01E01.avi

As such the files end up in this folder:

E:\TV SHOWS\Release group name - Req number - Show A\Release group name - Req number - Show A.avi

I need somehow to have the 'Release group name - req number' removed from each download as it's moved to get them into the correct folder. The details are always in the same format so it's simply the words before the second hyphen that need to be disregarded. However I cant work out how to do this.

I also have a very similar but much less important issue with films all I want is the file to go directly into the E:\FILMS folder, like this; E:\Films\ExampleMovie.avi, instead it ends up like this:

E:\FILMS\ExampleMovie\ExampleMovie.avi

There's an additional folder that isnt needed being created for each movie.

I've never seen posted nzb files formatted in such a way. Are you sure its not just from the site you are downloading it from? There is currently no way to filter out such text, anything before the s01e01 is considered the name of the show in a series.

As for your second issue, there will be new sorting options in 0.5 that allow you more control over the final directory structure of certain items.

I've realised that it only names the folder with the release name & req number, so the series name is incorrect, but the season & file name is fine.

As such when the directory structure can be amended in 0.5 I can get round this problem by switching off tv sorting.

Thanks for getting back to me, appreciated. The nzb's I'm currently downloading from nzbindex.nl BTW.

I would look into a website that has more sane nzb naming. It is basically naming the nzb after the full subject line which includes a lot of crap before the actual filenames. They won't be named like that on other sites.

Nice one, that was the first place I tried for rss feeds having previously used newzleech & no rss at all with nzb's.

I'll have a look round at other sites. Thanks.

Nice one for recommending that site, that combined with mytvnzb.foechoer.be has sorted it out nicely. Perfectly ordered into shows then season, then episode, & all in an order my MediaPortal can read, so I now simplyswitch on MediaPortal & watch the latest shows with no manual work required!

Excellent stuff!

Just to chip in with a couple of add on windows tools I've used that might work out for you with regard to TV renaming and sorting.

http://www.therenamer.com/ - The Renamer - not the most coherent or intuitive interface but generally works well once you've got it setup. It did nearly 3000 files for me and only had an issue on the odd special character. You can set your fetch folder to be you sab outbox and when you click (or schedule), it will rename and move if required to a sensible location.
I used this when I was playing media on a stand alone player.

http://themetabrowser.com/ - Metabrowser - Does a similar job but also pulls down metadata and I use this now with HTPC. Watches the (non sorted) sabnzbd outbox and sorts out everything.

Not sure if there's a roadmap for meta data in sab but maybe one day... ;)
