Hi,
I belvieve that after installing the latest version my system is pretty unusable when SAB checks
(or unpacks?) files. It used to be pretty responsive during post processing but all of the sudden
videos stop or show artefacts, mouse hangs etc.
All that even though I have only about 40-50% cpu usage.

Anyone else experiencing these problems ?

In 0.4.7 we have reintroduce classic par2 binary. But it's used only when your nzb set contains specials characters like accents, etc...
On other cases, it's the par2 ttb (multicore optimized) used.

Do your nzb files contains special characters ?

No, it's the usual selected_reports.... from newzbin. The nzbs they contain didn't have any accented characters as well.

What was your previous version? 0.4.6 or earlier?

Ok, so I did some more downloading and now it seems like the problem is gone.
I'm not really sure what caused the old par2 binary to start before though

The same was here. I copied the par2 binary from 0.4.6 to 0.4.7 and all is fine.

stanpete, I'm curious as to the hardware you're running. Par2 repairing is a pretty intensive process, which can become apparent when multitasking; maybe your machine doesn't have the power for it? I certainly know my G4 Powerbook (basic desktop usage is slow as it is running Leopard...) doesn't so I leave most tasks to my Core2 or AMD X2 windows desktops. Of course, if things have been working fine before, then something else may be the issue.

This is still an issue in 4.8 on my second to last gen Mini. While its not as bad since I can actually view the webpage, I have no choice but to hard power down my computer.

Hi,

If you still have troubles  with 0.4.9, could you answer to these questions ?

What type of par2 sets are you downloading (small 0->500Mo, Big 500->5Go or very big>5 Go) ?
What kind of hardware do you have (CPU G4/G5,Core,Core2 and RAM) ?

I'm thinking to remove par2 ttb from SABnzbd...

Thanks
