[solved]Low download speed with 0.8

Post by Sinisa »

Hi guys.

For last few weeks i was noticing low download speed. This weekend I made fresh install still it is not good.

1. CPU i3 Ivy bridge, 8 GB of RAM (2x4)
2. OS ubuntu 14.04.3 minimal
3. Sunnyusnet 10 connections (20Mb)
4. SABnzbd+ 0.8 beta

Code: Select all

2015-11-02 08:52:00,798::INFO::[sabnzbdplus:1261] sabnzbdplus-0.8.0Beta1 (rev=1ba588f530642cb2b804b58a48c5260ed7cd473e (not committed))

2015-11-02 08:52:01,124::DEBUG::[sabnzbdplus:1307] CPU model name is Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220T CPU @ 2.80GHz

2015-11-02 08:51:12,580::DEBUG::[bpsmeter:277] bps: 1082197.86428
I am getting constant speed of 1.1 MB/s, on my download server. Same NZB files on my laptop with 0.7.20 are going 2.6 MB/s, as they should

I tried both ports 80 and 443 - makes no difernce.

Is there anything I can do, try?

Thank you

First, see if there is not a max download speed set. With 0.8 there was the change to entering download speed in % instead of actual speed. Maybe somewhere in the config, or in the skin (which skin do you use, the new one or Plush?)
If you're sure that's not the case, go to Config and then Switches and turn Load balancing to Load balancing off. There is a bug in that implementation for Beta1 that's fixed in Beta2.

@ safihre, thanks for quick replay.

I use the new one, just switched to plush.

Tried entering "100%" and pushin "reset" - no change.
Also NLB is set to "prevent load-balancing" - no change.

Also: Line speed is set to 40M, Percentage of line speed is set to 100%, article cach limit is 2048M

Aaah, so maybe you only used a 10Mbit cable or wifi is weak? 1.1Mb/s is almost too identical to 10Mbit/s to be just acoincidence!

Cable should not be the problem - everything was fine with 12.04 and stock kernel.
Cable it self is cat 5E 1.5m connected directly to my router.

I think I am having problem with drivers for my NIC.

I tried to measure throughput on htpc and got only 3.5Mb/sec and some 8.5Mb/s upload. On lapotp connected to WiFi I am getting 35/8 Mb/s :(

Unfortunately, linux is not my strong side, yesterday I tried to fix it following some instructions I found on net and FUBAR-ed my system.
I will reinstall OS and all gudies, fortunately I have backup of my home folder so it should be easy to do.
But still i do not know how to solve problem with my realtec NIC, or even where to start properly.

Thanks for your help and good will. This should be marked "solved /closed" as problem is not related to SABnzbd+
