Hi,

So I updated to the latest version yesterday 1.0.2 (Windows) and i read that false message "Too many connections to server" was fixed.
Now then funny thing is that I did not have a problem prior to updating to 1.0.2 and now I have O0

2016-05-10 04:11:26,023::ERROR::[downloader:579] Too many connections to server xxx

You can reveal the real message by going to Servers, and then click on Test Server. Post that error message here.

What do you mean with real? I don't have too many connections to server.

The real message sent by your newsserver
blackkatt wrote:I don't have too many connections to server.
... so some other newsserver response (the 'real' response) is triggering that SAB message.

But wait: I had a look at the source code:

Code: Select all

                            logging.debug('Server login problem: %s, %s', ecode, msg)
                            if ecode in ('502', '481', '400') and clues_too_many(msg):
                                # Too many connections: remove this thread and reduce thread-setting for server
                                # Plan to go back to the full number after a penalty timeout
                                if server.active:
                                    server.errormsg = T('Too many connections to server %s') % display_msg
                                    logging.error(T('Too many connections to server %s'), server.id)
So: set SABnzbd's logging to +Debug, re-download, and as soon you see the error message check your sabnzbd.log for a line with "Server login problem". Post the output here.

For example

Code: Select all

2016-05-10 20:23:35,650::DEBUG::[downloader:574] Server login problem: 482, 482 Too many connections for your user (nntpswitch)
and

Code: Select all

$ cat ~/.sabnzbd/logs/sabnzbd.log | grep -i -e "too many" -e "server login problem"

2016-05-10 20:37:16,561::DEBUG::[downloader:574] Server login problem: 400, 400 dreader37.news.xs4all.nl: Too many connections from your host (max 4) - [email protected]
2016-05-10 20:37:16,561::ERROR::[downloader:580] Too many connections to server newszilla6.xs4all.nl

Stupid question: but why not reduce the number of connections by a few?

This is not a problem any more (I think) but the reason, at least for me. Not to reduce number of connection is ofc speed! I have mine set to 49 of 50. Anything less I lose speed.

Hi guys,

Not sure I should create a new thread for a problem with version 2 or re-use that one.

I've been having this problem since version 2. No fix unfortunately in the next releases.

Happens randomly, whether I set my max connections to 100% of what I'm allowed or 70%.

Here is the +debug log:
2017-09-10 12:38:07,493::DEBUG::[downloader:628] Server login problem: 502, 502 Too many connections
2017-09-10 12:38:07,493::WARNING::[downloader:636] Too many connections to server sslreader.eweka.nl
2017-09-10 12:38:07,594::DEBUG::[downloader:847] Set planned server resume sslreader.eweka.nl in 10 mins
Is it another problem of ghost connections or that have not been released? I can see a problem when reconnecting:

Eweka probably has a longer time out. Go into Config Servers, click advanced and set timeout to 120s. Or maybe 150.

OK thanks. It was already at 120s. I'll try with 150s.
I just realised that it could be on eweka's side. Maybe they're cheap for a reason.

While it could be SABnzbd, I have looked into this part of the code in such detail and if it was making ghost-connections these forums would be overflowing with bug reports :)
