I'm looking for a program, or script, that will allow me to download based on what I currently have and download based on a file-type priority.
As an example if I have Show Y saved on my computer and I have season 1, episode 1, but not episode 2 I want it to download any available divx/xvid release, or as the preferred format I want it to get an x264 version.
If I only have a divx/xvid encoding of something, I also want it to download a duplicate (or delete the existing one and replace it on completed download) x264 release.
This last bit is the big one for me, I'm guessing a number of the TV sorter's do the first bit, but I'm curious if any of them do the latter.
I'm also looking for the easiest method to get this setup, so if there are two that actually do this already the easiest takes the cake (assuming no lack of functionality).
Sorry if this is "search for it yourself" type of post, but I was wanting to get people's opinions on which is "better" in the event that there are actually scripts/programs that meet my criteria.

Ermm.. Well I use Media Rover.
It's potential downers at the moment is that it's not easy to setup
It doesn't do the x264 thing yet, though that's a hopeful future function.
That it does perfectlyAs an example if I have Show Y saved on my computer and I have season 1, episode 1, but not episode 2 I want it to download
Another potential app is the SSD script, but I don't know it's flaws/functions anymore. Someone else may fill you in.
To be honest.. The only way I can think of getting the basic end result you desire is Episode Butler.
It's got very reliable quality/filesize filters..
SSD might too though..
Gah. I think you /will/ have to search the forum yourself.
Any typos or obvious erros forgive me, It;s tired
Re: Question: Best (and easiest) Automatic TV Sorter
Thanks for the tips. I'll do a search on Episode Butler.
Edit: Looks like Episode Butler will be good for me. I'm simply going to set all the shows I want to high for quality and just manually remove any preexisting divx for.
Thanks again for the suggestion. And I found "TV Meta Data Finder" which looks to be a solid tv renamer.
Cheers!
Edit: Using this now instead, not perfect but best I've found: http://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/.
Anyone have a favorite they use that looks better than this?

I'm curious.
Since you're using EB (brilliant choice BTW), why are you using something like mediarenamer ?
Why don't you just let SABnzbd do the sorting etc for you?

Re: Question: Best (and easiest) Automatic TV Sorter
If you can run Windows, I'd concur with Daniel. TVRename is pretty nice, and with some custom search strings for Newzbin or other sites, you can easily find missing episodes, rename your existing ones, and find the type of formats you use.
I don't normally run Windows around here, but TVRename works fine virtualized with VMWare for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm getting ready to do a fresh install and I have the program downloaded. I'll be giving it a try when I resume cleaning up my collection.interfacelift wrote: If you can run Windows, I'd concur with Daniel. Re: Question: Best (and easiest) Automatic TV Sorter
TVrename is awesome, thanks for the suggestion. I'm using it in place of Episode Butler as it's a nice one-stop-shop for everything I need to do (except downloading).
