I'm new to this whole Usenet thing, so I'm just trying to get a grasp for things. Why would a download fail? I downloaded a movie from Newzbin.com, but once it finished, the file wasn't there, the folder it was supposed to be was labelled FAILED, and under "History" it says: [Failed]: Download failed - Out of your server's retention?
Can you please explain what went wrong? I paid a good amount of money for this Usenet thing and I would be really pissed off if I couldn't understand how to use it or it for some reason didn't work right...

You didn't download a movie from Newzbin, you downloaded a NZB, it's a small file that tells SABNzbd+ what to download from your newsprovider.
A newsprovider can be from your ISP, which usually means low retention, or a premium service such as Giganews or Astraweb.
Hope this helps

Re: Why would a download fail?
I have Astraweb, which has 380 day retention. That's why I'm confused as to why it says there's a retention problem...
Re: Why would a download fail?
Have you set your server address, port, username and password correctly in SABNzbd+ ?
Secure Server:
ssl.astraweb.com Ports 443 or 563
ssl-eu.astraweb.com Ports 443 or 563 (European)
ssl-us.astraweb.com Ports 443 or 563 (US)

Re: Why would a download fail?
I had the exact same problem with an NZB that actually completed just fine. I posted the same question days ago with no responses.
Check your INCOMPLETE folder and see what was downloaded. I bet you'll see a bunch of rar files.
As a side note, this happened with several of my downloads, all of which were complete, just not copied from INCOMPLETE to COMPLETE.

Re: Why would a download fail?
Just a thought, but it's also possible that the movie was removed from Astraweb's servers due to a takedown notice.

I have heard of that happening on Giganews, does it also happen on Astraweb?Eejit wrote: Just a thought, but it's also possible that the movie was removed from Astraweb's servers due to a takedown notice.
