I just installed the 0.5 beta. Thanks to the developers for all their hard work. It has all the features I've been looking for and it's running great on my machine.
I have a question, though, about something that I've been wondering for a while. What is the origin of the name of the software? Is SAB an acronym?
I searched the forums and the wiki and couldn't find anything on this.
Origin of SAB name

Re: Origin of SAB name
I don't believe anyone has ever worked it out. AFAIK The original developer who created sabnzbd isn't contactable.
S automatic binary NZB daemon?

Re: Origin of SAB name
This is something we expect the original developer - tdian - will take to his grave. We know the nzbd is for nzb daemon, but will likely never know what "SAB" means.
Re: Origin of SAB name
The guy is from Germany, I bet his girlfriend is called Sabine.
Re: Origin of SAB name
I've wonder this for a while too. I guess its better to know that no one really knows instead of just me.
Awesome App BTW- just jumped to the beta on Mac and have stopped using Unison which I paid for.

Re: Origin of SAB name
I was always under the impression that the origin had something to do with the Something Awful forums, and the B stood for binary. I have no idea where I got that impression, though.
Re: Origin of SAB name
A lot of the initial (and continued) buzz about SABnzbd came from my threads at SA, but the app and name predate those threads, and our involvement with SABnzbd.popcornarsonist wrote: I was always under the impression that the origin had something to do with the Something Awful forums, and the B stood for binary.
