par2.exe = 100% CPU

This happens far too often for me. Just happened again on back to back 200 MB downloads. What's going on? It takes up 90% CPU forcing my total CPU usage to 100. Happens for the majority of the par check.
I'm running 0.4.12 on Vista (haven't taken the time to upgrade to Win 7). :p 2 GB RAM
BTW I searched and couldn't find anything on this. If there's a thread like this already, sorry about that.

par2.exe is completely out of our control.
It's the same program most other Usenet software uses.
par2 is very busy when it needs to do significant repairs.
You may consider upgrading to 0.5.0Beta5,
that has a newer multi-core version of par2.
And it skips running par2 for those jobs that have been
checked for correctness by SABnzbd itself.
Or wait a couple of days until Beta6 comes out.

OK, thanks for the quick response.
I'll try beta 6... BTW not sure if you guys did this, but you should make it perfectly clear that the betas (and new versions) of sab completely wipe out people's queues and also they should be installed in a new folder. A few weeks ago I downloaded beta 5 on the blog and it didn't say anything so I installed it over 0.4.12... It took me a long time to rebuild my queue. I was pissed. It says this on the readme but the readme only shows up after you've installed sab. Just a suggestion! thx again

Actually it does not. It ignores the 0.4.x queue.
If you start 0.4.x later it will find back the queue.
Nobody reads release notes: the info is there.
We could have put a warning in the installer, but that would only be
for users of the Windows EXE.
