Error Saving to cache

I am getting the following errors when trying to download, looks like problems writing to the cache folder.  I am using V 0.4.12 installed on a readynas duo.  I tried removing and reinstalling SABnzbd but this did not solve the issue.  Any ideas?

It looks like SABnzbd isn't allowed to write.
Are you sure the access rights are OK?
Either that or the volume on which /etc resides is full.

I though so too, so checked the rights, they looked fine, but just in case made it 0777 so everyone can join the party. No change.  Also the volume has tones of space so cannot be that.

One thing I that came to mind was that I was using an externaly attached FAT USB drive as the 'Temporary Download Folder' (Location to store unprocessed downloads.), changed this back to one of the share on the readnas - and it now seem to be working fine.  Strange, since the cache folder is defined separately and I have not changed this???
