Automatically download ALL par files
Hi guys,
First of all I just want to say thanks for an excellent bit of kit. After using Newzbin, QuickPar and WinRAR for the last couple of years, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this tool that takes all the hard work out of using Usenet.
My question is: Is there any way I can force SABnzbd to automatically download all the par2 files that the nzb file includes? I know that it only downloads the par files it thinks it needs, but it seems to fail quite often, making me download the par2 files again myself, and then go through the manual repair/extract process.
For example: I downloaded an nzb. SABnzbd says repair failed. I ran the files through QuickPar, and it only wanted 12 more blocks, yet SABnzbd didn't attempt to download any more blocks to repair the files.
Is there a way to either: a) Add a button to retry the repair process, automatically downloading all the required par files, or b) a way to force SABnzbd to download all par2 files in the nzb and still automatically perform post-processing?
Thanks in advance,
Kai.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
SABnzbd downloads the actual files plus the smallest par2 file.
If verification fails and repair isn't possible, more par2 files are downloaded.
If subsequent repair still fails, all remaining par2 files are downloaded.
After that it's up to you.
Do you have any reproducible examples of when this goes wrong?

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
I didn't realise it should automatically download all the par2 files if it failed a second time, but I can confirm it does not perform this behaviour on my system. I'm using the latest available release via the Ubuntu packages.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
"All available" means available in the NZB file.
It's not possible to add more par2 files later,
at least not without separate downloading, copying
and using QuickPar and unar yourself.
If SABnzbd does fail to download any par2 files that are in the NZB file,
can you email such an NZB to bugs at sabnzbd.org ?

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
I'm seeing the same thing. Windows 7. Not sure if it's the new version of the program or the OS. Will try to find an NZB that does this.
Re: Automatically download ALL par files
It's not Windows 7, I do all my work on that.
I test this feature regularly.
Waiting for an example.

Sample NZB sent to bugs at sabnzbd.org
Hope it helps!

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
I hope you realize that the NZB you sent me is very old (336 days)?
Only the real premium servers will still have it (or have enough of it).
You are sure you're not getting a ton of "missing article" messages?
I'm downloading it now and I may succeed because
I have an expensive provider.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
Hi,
Yeah, I did realise and I'm also using an expensive provider, so that's not the issue here.
Cheers,
Kai.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
There must be also something with your provider,
because my download just completed without any issues.
There were some repairs needed.
I'll investigate it a bit further, but for now I would say
you provider just doesn't have enough articles.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
My provider is Giganews, so again, I don't think thats the issue because I never had this problem while downloading manually (i.e. Newzbin -> QuickPar -> WinRAR).
Would there be the possibility of adding another processing option, i.e. "Download All Pars and Delete", as I think for 90% of downloads your current (and I might add very efficient) way of doing things works well, but for the odd download where you get issues, you can add the nzb file back in the download list and select the option to download all pars.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
It already DOES download all pars.
And I managed to download the complete thing from Giganews.
Also I just finished another test.
From the NZB, I removed all files but kept the first RAR of each set and all the par2 files.
When SABnzbd completes the job, it says (obviously) that the download failed,
but I did get the first RARs and all of the par2 files.
I have no idea what goes wrong at your end.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
Well, I'm downloading the NZB again, hopefully this time it will work...
Thanks for the replys,

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
Ok, so nzb has finished downloading with this error: Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (9 short). That seemed to suggest that SABnzbd had not downloaded all the available par files. I looked inside the download folder and only one par file was available for each set of rars. However, the par files do download perfectly well if I use Newzbin. So it looks like SABnzbd is not downloading all the par files.

Re: Automatically download ALL par files
That's quite a feat, downloading with newzbinkaigoh wrote: if I use Newzbin.
The whole NZB consists of about 15 separate pieces.
If you get only one error report, then only one part failed.
In your case you should set the "Safe post-processing" option off.
Because if it's on, SABnzbd will not unpack any of the parts.
If you look closes, you'll probably see that most parts are complete.
