Hi,

When Sabnzbd downloads and extracts files from the internet, how dangerous are included viruses and other malware? Is any program contained in the rar file executed when extracted?

I ask this as I have had some troubles using Sabnzbd during the last few weeks. And now I'm considering to start Sabnzbd inside Sandboxie. How safe would that be?

SABnzbd, par2 and unrar do not execute anything downloaded.
As long as your scripts and Operating system don't execute anything, you're OK.
I don't know if par2 or unrar are vulnerable for buffer overflow issues.

Reducing rights is always a good idea when dealing with programs
with access to Internet.
