Well i have written about this many times as well as sent a bug report to the Dev.. No luck yet. SABnzbd 0.5.0 RC6 is a joke.. The only program worth having for downloading NZB is Hellanzb.. On Linux.. which IS NOT SO FUNNY as I use Mac snow Leopard.. To bad the Dev. can not reproduce this.. I have installed my system .. 4 times.. to try to get this to work.. Seems it is not working so well with Giganews or astraweb.. everytime I believe the sever stalls it crashes SABNZBD. to where the mac has to be fully restarted. I mean any file that you download with SABnzbd 0.5.0 RC6 and before RC 3,4,5 crashes/. if the file is 30 gigs and over.. and being it is on the mac platform well I guess the support is 0 to none.. what a shame.. could have been a great program but like all things mac.. development is always left out.. till last..

so SABnzbd. there is a BIG bug in the software. BIG. as in UNUSABLE.. Unison has this same bug as well. Crashes everytime I try to download a file of 30 gigs..  Hellanzb for Mac.. or mac ports does not support snow leopard.. Too bad.. have to use it on Ubuntu or Debian lenny . and works great. FILES ALL DOWNLOAD with out problem

Hope someone with some pull can contact the dev. and tell them.. FIX THIS BUG.. it still crashes on almost ever BIG file download/. Hope they will fix this.. Said in the RC6 log file they fixed this.. Yeah right.. Fresh system . on 64bit 2x2.26Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon.. AND IT HAS NEVER WORKED. and i have installed a fresh snow leopard system with NOTHING else installed other then the bare min. of max osx snow leopard.. 10.6.2 

Hope this little post finds its way to the dev and they will be able to duplicate the same results as i have dup. like 5000 times before.. for MUSIC FILES NO PROBLEM.. mkv FILES.. not problem but for 30 plug gigs.. well USELESS.. please Dev.. try to fix this

It seems your experience is quite unique.
When does it crash exactly?
Before all the files are in?
During the par2 repair run?

Just saying "it doesn't work" is not very informative.

I would try running http://www.memtestosx.org/ and some hard drive testing applications.

The fact that you are the only person to report this, cannot be verified by ourselves and also happens in a separate program leads me to believe the problem is in fact with the hardware on your machine and not a bug of SABnzbd.

Please try the above tests and get back to us with your results.

SABnzbd is coded in developers spare time, and we can only test on the machines we have available to us. We try our best to give good support, however you need to be more descriptive into what the actual problem is for us to help.

Not to gloss over your problem, but if both SABnzbd and Unison are crashing on the same kind of NZBs, this seems to indicate it's a problem with your hardware and not with us.

OSX is a first-class citizen here. One of our developers on our very small team is here primarily to make sure our OSX builds work great. To my knowledge he's on 10.6.2 (or whatever's current) since I know he's been testing 10.6-specific additions in 0.5, namely our new build of Par2 that uses Grand Central Dispatch.

If you want us to fix the issue, give us more information. What happens when it crashes? What NZBs does it crash on? (send to [email protected], cc to [email protected]) Deriding us and claiming we casually leave giant widespread critical bugs in our software doesn't help, giving us actual data to test does. Just because the changelog says we handle large jobs better now doesn't mean there might not still be issues out there, we can't test every nzb in the world on every hardware configuration ever. If you've found something you think we've let slip through the cracks, give us the information we need to test.

@mojo : You've only posted once on the forum. I've replied asking you to send me the faulty nzb by pm.

I also have this problem, I am running 10.6.2 and yes it is a hackintosh. However it uses the exact same guts as far as the chipset is concerned and drivers as the real macbook pro 13" (MCP79) and GPU. It is very stable and everything works, but when I run 0.4.12 or 0.5 on Snow Leopard I crash and burn. I do not know how to explain it, because it had been working on 0.4.12 and 10.6.2, but then out of the clear blue last month it would freeze up my computer (beach ball) and the only thing I could do is reboot. Also I am using astraweb, and I am crashing on any file of any size.. can't seem to find the issue in my console log yet either.

I am currently testing this on my real macbook running 10.5.7 and 0.4.12 but it appears to be fine. I will be on vacation these next 3 days so I will be unable to upgrade my real macbook snow to test this bug on a real mac. I also have a new hard drive I will be installing in my hackintosh notebook, so I will report back then as well. Right now I am running windows 7 on the same hackintosh notebook and sabnzb is running fine in it.

I am using 0.5.0 and am having this problem also. Basically after a while my MacBook Pro completely crashes and needs to be turned off hard and started back up. It happens with ANY nzb file I download. I am running 10.6.3 and all other updates are installed also. I am new to this forum as I was brought it doing I google search on this topic because it is making USENET unusable.

I believe it started with the 0.5.0 release because I did not have any problems before then. I thought it was a problem with Chrome since I had switched to it around the same time, but it happens with Firefox and Safari also.

I wish I had more info but really all I can say is that I queue up a few different nzbs and let it run. I come back 30 mins to a few hours later and find my system hung (though I can click on the dock a few times, go through a few various program or system menus a few times but then it freezes/hangs completely, but no open programs function). Might it have anything to do with my computer just idling for a while? I have no idea. All other programs work fine so long as I never us sabnzbd+. No problems before Feb however. And other than this I have had no other problems.

If you need me to gather some specific info I am more than happy to help.

Nevermind all that about "queueing it up and leaving it download only to find it hung when I return." It just froze on me while I was using the computer. It was not idle at all. Looks as if it was running about 30 mins before the crash.

Could you send me your log and ini files by pm ? (don't forget to remove passwords)

I have the same problem, with 0.5.0 tried 0.5.2 which is even worse.
I run sabnzbd on a iMac Quad core osx 10.6.3..

Please fix....
