Running sab 0.4.6.  I get "Failed to send e-mail" warning.  Used to have different ISP and used smtp.(my ISP).net.   Now using different isp and and emails are not sending anymore.  

Upgrade at least to 0.4.12.
Check your settings carefully.
Other than that our email support is limited because
we do not have the resources to test it for every mail server in the world,.

I get pretty inconsistent results with gmail - logs don't show anything - but about 1 in 5 emails go through.

If the logs don't show anything, that means the email was sent.
Setting logging to Info or Debug will show more info\.
Have you checked your Gmail spam folder?

Sorry, when I say "logs don't show anything" I mean the logs just show "Failed to send e-mail" and there's nothing outside of that in the logs.

Set logging to "debug" and see if that shows more info.
I send all my SABnzbd through gmail, it never failed.
There's a email test button in Connections, that makes it easier to test.
