SABnzbd is a kind of background software, you launch it and the use the webinterface to control it.
It's normal to see SABnzbd in your activity monitor even when your download is finished.
You don't have to run it multiple times. Once launched just open your browser and go to
http://localhost:8080/ (or whatever you've configured)
When I start it then I get the message that SABzbd could not start because someone is using the port. But I get that same message independent which port I designate.
According to SABnzd all ports are in use. Impossible, since I have no firewalls. I installed the same app on my MBA ---> same problem.

Check your firewall and anti-virus software.
Those usually don't like it when a program sets up a web-server (like SABnzbd does).

@antoniong
I've checked your sabnzbd.ini, seems clean.
Could you please try to change localhost by 0.0.0.0 in your sabnznd.ini and start SABnzbd ?

Did so but this makes no change. It still refuses to run.

try to close SABnzbd, remove the ~/.sabnznd and ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd directories and start sabnzbd.
Do you have the wizard ?

Did delete but problem remains.
What do you mean by "wizard"?

if you delete the directories mentionned, you should see, when you start sabnzbd the first time, an assistant that help you to configure in your web browser.

Never seen such a thing. When I start then I get immediately the screen with the port problem.
Also I do not have the file "~/.sabnznd".
