Do still get the error when you set the number of connections to 1?

I'm experimenting the same problem. I've just created my account on usenet and I check twice (and more ) username/password/host/port.
I'm able to connect to my commercial usenet account panel with the data I use to configure SABnzbd but still no success

I check everything indicated previously in this topic, and everything seems to be correct. The only "bizarre" thing is that the root folder by default is not in my user profile directory: I have Win7 Arium 6 (x64) with username emri, and the default root folder is in 'matx' user dir...

Did I miss something ?

My problem is fixed, my usenetserver account password was containing space characters, after updating it without space, no problem
However it doesn't seem to be a SABnzbd problem as every news grabber result with 502 status before password update, it seems to be a usenetserver issue.

SABnzbd cannot handle leading or trailing spaces (it removes them).
Possibly usenetserver cannot handle spaces within a password.
Anyhow, the NNTP (Usenet protocol) standard is not clear on this point.

So, it was working yesterday. Today I get this error. I sent an email to astraweb. If I hit the unblock button, it will work for a few seconds.

Any suggestions?

Did you try the "Test Server" button on Config->Servers?
First pause any downloading.

Yeah, I get a Connection successful. I tried restarting SAB, same.
