okay, this is a strange problem. every other nzb i download from nzbmatrix manually or an nzb that gets downloaded by Sick Beard, is not being picked up by SAB. Example:
2010-10-16 21:55:57,783
WARNING:
Cannot read D:\SABnzb\nzb\Merlin.3x06.The_Changeling.WS_PDTV_XviD-FoV.nzb
However, if i download the same file as zip from nzbmatrix (it goes in the same folder, D:\SABnzb\nzb), it gets picked up and works just fine
What could be the problem?
EDIT:i should add that it doesn't happen always. sometimes i can download .nzb and they work fine...
.nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip

Re: .nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip
If such an issue happens, can you open the file with (say) Notepad.
And does it look like an NZB file then?
What happens if you copy it to another location and upload it to SABnzbd?

thanks for your reply!
if i copy the nzb to another location and then try to upload it to SAB, the same happens
however, i opened a 'broken' nzb in notepad and there were only weird symbols. here's an extract:

Re: .nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip
if i extract the (the same) nzb from the zip archive and open it, it looks different:
alt.binaries.teevee
alt.binaries.multimedia
so it seems the nzb is corrupted, but how and why?
EDIT: in the above post, the weird symbols don't show?????

Re: .nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip
It could be that the actual character encoding of the file doesn't match
the code as listed inside the file.
The file claims to be in ISO-8859-1 (Western 8bit ASCII).
If it's not actually encoded as such, both Notepad and SABnzbd become confused.
Can you email one of those faulty NZBs to bugs at sabnzbd.org ?
Please ZIP the file to preserve it as best as possible
and add the URL of this topic.

it's done! thanks for your efforts!
Re: .nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip
The "broken" file is indeed very broken.
I have no idea what it is, it's just a jumble of binary nonsense.
Did you download this file directly from nzbmatrix?
Did you get them as RAR files?
If so you should complain to them.
BTW: the "working" file is strange too. It has the RAR extension but is in fact a GZ file.

Re: .nzb doesn't work with SAB, only .zip
hmmm.....the file i sent you was auto.downloaded by sick beard from NZB.su (the broken nzb). the gz file with the working nzb was from nzbmatrix (i renamed the archive to rar before i sent it to you.
however, in my recycle bin there are a number of nzb's from nzbmatrix which didn't work. the problem seems to occur randomly with nzbmatrixand nzb.su but never when the nzb's are in an archive...be that as it may, i think it's clear this is isolated to my setup and no other users seem tobe affected by this (= no SAB bug).i will just stick to download archives.
thanks for your time!
