Somehow one of my machines always fails to download the first time I add a download.
It looks like it's downloading but it finishes a couple of gigabytes within a minute and marks the download as failed (after that 0 blocks downloaded).
When it's in the failed list I can just restart the download and it will download succesfully, but never the first time.
The only messages in the logs are: "WARNING: None -> Unknown encoding". It has to be a problem in one of my Python libraries since I have the exact same version running on my laptop without a problem (copied with "rsync -av").
Version: All of them, 0.5.x, 0.6.x (including the latest version directly from launchpad)
OS: Ubuntu Maverick (not the issue, I have an identical install on 2 other machines which work without a problem)
Install-type: linux repository, python source (straight from launchpad)

Are you using IPV6? I use servers both with and without IPv6, doesn't make a difference.
Is the issue reproducible? yes
Any idea on what it could be or where I should start the debugging? I've already tried reinstalling yenc but it didn't change anything.

"WARNING: None -> Unknown encoding" can be a side-effect of other problems.
It looks more like articles are simply not found on the server,
or SABnzbd thinking they aren't.
Given that the exact same setup is working on two other systems,
it looks more like a local problem. But what, I don't have a clue.
If you suspect yEnc, you can simply remove it.
SABnzbd will decode articles by itself (slower, but it does work).
If you have debug-level log files for such an event, send them to bugs at sabnzbd.org

I've removed yenc completely... no difference

I'll just remove Sabnzbd completely and completely reconfigure it, who knows if it's something in there...
I did get some debug logs, but they weren't useful either. I'll try to gather some more but it's not 100% reproducable unfortunately...

0.6.0 Beta2 contains an error which makes downloads fail when you have the "Send Group" option (Config->Switches).
Upgrade to Beta3 and turn off the "Send Group" option.
