I really want to use SABnzbd plus but only the version below 0.4 (0.3.1) are working.
What I did:
- uninstall the old version
- install the new version
- start
a IE window opens and is trying to load the webgui.... but it can't find the page.
So I tryed:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/sabnzbd
and http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd

but nothing happend.

Then I started the console and everything looks oke.
- with the console open I can see something happend when I do http://127.0.0.1:8080/sabnzbd in IE

Then I try several other ports , but nothing work. (and the old version was working at 8080)
(I checked the port with the command netstat)

What to do next ? , back to the old version

Try to start it from a command prompt.
Go to the folder where SABnzbd is installed.

SABnzbd.exe -s 0.0.0.0:8080

Then see what happens. The firewall should warn you, allow SABnzbd.
Try these addresses in the browser.

http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd
http://MY_IP:8080/sabnzbd

Replace MY_IP with the numerical IP address if your PC (usually something like 192.168.1.2).

Note that we have not tested with XP-SP3 yet.

I've been running XP-SP3 for nearly the entire 0.4.0 beta process (and definitely the full RC process) and have experienced no problems.

I did SABnzbd.exe -s 0.0.0.0:8080
- There was a windows xp firewall popup (I did accept the connections ofcourse)
Then I did try:
http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd (don't work)
http://192.168.1.10:8080/sabnzbd (don't work)

When I do that , the browser is trying to connect and don't time-out for a while.
In firefox the same.

I forget to say that I had this problem with XP SP2 and SP3.

What is the problem ?

Sounds like it could be a proxy issue, if you have any proxies set up in your web browsers, make sure they allow access to localhost.

IE7: Tools>Internet Options>LAN Settings>Check "Bypass proxy server for local addresses"
FF3: Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Settings>Make sure localhost is added to "No proxy for:"

Edit: Actually, this should not affect the results of a tracert. Possible incorrect DNS settings on your pc or invalid HOSTS file?

I fixed my router (i think) and uninstall / install sabnzbd again.

But still not working.

I really want to know what you get using the command:
tracert localhost:8080
and tracert localhost

When I do tracert localhost:8080 I get now this message:
"Unable to resolve target system name localhost:8080"

In the cherrypy log I see resolve_dns_... False

I don't know what to do...
ping localhost = 127.0.0.1
ping hostname = 192.168.1.10

The hostfile in windows xp is yust the default file
(127.0.0.1 localhost)

Use 0.3.4 if you want to be able to download.

There are differences between the behavior of 0.3.4 and 0.4.0.
There have been many changes since 0.3.4, like design of the startup code
but also upgrade of various Python modules and even Python itself.
(Python is the programming language we use).
I will see if it's possible to create a 0.4.0 test version based on all the
older modules, but this will take some time.

Apart from that, there is something seriously wrong with your system's network setup.
Otherwise we would get dozens of these complaints on this subject.

PS: have you tried other ports than 8080?

I tried 0.4.0RC2 with all the Python-stuff used for 0.3.4.
Testing this on a XP-SP3 system gave no problems at all.

I'm out of suggestions now.

The response you get for "tracert localhost:8080" is normal, you should not add the port number.
The response to "tracert localhost" is OK.
localhost should not be influenced by the modem/router.

If neither localhost or 192.168.1.10 work, then something is wrong with
the networking inside your system.

To remove the influence of the modem/router, just disconnect the network cable.
See what happens then.

Also, I would advise you to use another port than 8080.
Any free port will do, try 80 for instance.

Then I started sabnzbd and still the same problem.

Then I try a other port 80 (and some others) and still the same problem.

My conclusion is format c: and do a clean install.
In the worst case my pc is infected with some spyware that is routing my things to a other places...

I still don't understand why 0.3.4 does work on your system, but 0.4.0 does not.

I can send you a 0.4.0 testversion that was created with the older Python tools.
The only thing that won't be working will be secure usenet.
