Sabnzbd windows 7 slow dl speed (compared to other OS)

Hi

I use a dual boot with Windows 7 (x64 sp3) and Ubuntu 11.04 and I am having issues with the download speeds when I use windows. In ubuntu I am more or less maximizing my 100mbit/s connection with about 12MB/sec as dl speeds for any given nzb using giganews as a usenet provider. However, when Im in windows the speed is somewhere around 2.5-5 MB/sec which I find rather strange. I cant seem to recall this problem in earlier versions of sab (now I use 0.6.5) but then again I did not really use windows that much for the last two years. Now I have to do lots of work and is more or less forced to and this is also when I noticed the problem.

Any ideas for what the problem may be and how to solve it?

Birkovic

Ps. My media center (a different computer) using Ubuntu also have nice dl speeds making the problem isolated to one computer. Ds.

Didn't know there was a Win7 SP3 :)
Works fine here with Win7 64bit SP1.
Could be drivers.
You do have an article cache defined in Config->General I hope.
Ubuntu's filesystem is more efficient than that of Windows
and without the article cache you could notice this.

SP1 it is! ;)

Anyway... I set the article cache to 512M. I have no idea what would be a sufficient size, but I think this got me up a notch. Still not there though. I now dl at speeds around 5-7MB/sec. I tested my connection and I get around 92mbit/sec at different places so I think Im fine as far as drivers go.

What size should I use for the cache? Any other ideas?

-1 is the best value, if you can spare the memory.
It should be enough to keep about 1.2 times the largest file to be downloaded,
with files being between 50-100M at most.
So with 512M, the cache isn't the bottleneck.
Other than that, I don't know. I get 11 MBytes/sec from a similar Win7 setup.

I played around with the article cashe size and now I get around 10MB/sec and I guess that will have to do. Thank you very much for the help - its appreciated.
