After trying and failing to patch the memory leak in the Windows gadget for SABnzbd, I wrote a gadget-like windows GUI from scratch.
Introducing:
SABnzbd Manager (SABMan for short)
I hope you enjoy using it!
Information and download here.
Current Version is 1.0.700 Released Feb 26, 2012
New Features:
1) All
known bugs are fixed.
2) Added "Start minimized in tray"
3) Tray status window is always on top
4) Clearing history in SABnzbd after download is now an option
5) Fixed popup button to appear in the most appropriate location depending on window location in relation to screen edges
6) Tray icon animates while downloading
7) Better error checking/recovery
** Still working on DPI scaling issues when screen is not set at 100% DPI
May 16, 2010 - Due my lack of available time, I have released this as an open source project under the Apache License v2.0. Source code can be downloaded from the link above.

Would be nice if you could set the size of the gadget

The window will expand and contract vertically depending on the number of queued items (up to 60). I'll see about adding a "max items to show" option in the next release.
Thank you.

Checking it out...
I agree with rascalli, not in downward length because of the number of items, but width ways. I'd like to be able change how wide the "app" displays, so we can properly read the NZBs that are downloading. I know you did this width to keep that gadget like feel, but even most gadgets have an up sizing option.

Understood...I'll see about that.
Thank you.

I've installed it, very nice little app, it `does what it says on the tin'.
It's nice to be able to allocate the catagory, when i manually `open' an nzb.
One thing I've noticed? for some reason since i've installed it, after Sab has run, the `items' are not saved to the `history' page. i've just watched it `run' and when it had d/loaded and extracted the item, it was immediately `cleared' from the history list.

Glad you like it. I forgot that it clears the history of the item on successful download. I will put a checkbox in the settings to allow you to turn that feature on or off.
Thank you.

Done! You can download and install over the existing version.

Ah, huh! I was wondering why my history was clearing! A check option is a good idea, thanks for putting that in.

I don't see the tick option in the settings for clearing history? Are you sure you uploaded the new revision to you web site?
PS. Even though I am not into RC planes, I liked the vids of your flights and the experimental planes. They look very cool.

Okay thanks.
Edit:
Found out the problem.
It was because of the install directory name change in the install file. I assumed when I ran the install it would overwrite the old one but it didn't. (I said no to installing shortcuts because I already had them.) It installed it into folder SABMan instead of over the top of folder SABMon.
I uninstalled both and then a fresh install fixed the problem, of course.

Awesome work!
I've been waiting for this for a loooong time!
Thanks for your hard work!
Some requests, if you don't mind -
1. I also would love to be able to resize the gadget's width, I understand the height is adjusted according to the amount of items on the queue
2. More settings (i.e. - to show kb/sec or MB/sec instead of mbit/sec)
3. ability to remove the tray icon (like a true desktop gadget)
4. ability to read the folder settings automatically from the server (when I click on an item then choose Change Category, i see no options there...)
I'm sure there are more features to think of, but this is truly the best thing yet. Thumbs up!

Thank you for the complements and suggestions. I will see about your requests as time permits. #4 is only practical if you're running SABMan on the same system as the server. In my case, I run SABMan on several clients (Mine, wife's, son's) systems and those are UNC paths to the download directory that is shared from the server.
Keep the criticisms and suggestions coming...
