Upgrade 0.5.x to 0.6.12 in Debian squeeze?

Greetings
I'd like to run sabnzbd 0.6.12 on a Seagate Dockstar (plug computer) that boots Debian squeeze. Squeeze uses sabnzbd 0.5.x by default.
In the wiki
http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc25
I see this:
http://wiki.debian.org/SimpleBackportCreation
(which I couldn't get to work, BTW).
I have downloaded and unpacked SABnzbd-0.6.12-src.tar.gz. Which "current sabnzbd folder" do I overwrite with which "new files"?
Or what?
Help is appreciated. This machine will be used only for sabnzbd, and will never again have apt-get update/upgrade run on it, so I don't care about dependencies that might break later.

That certainly sounds easy, as compared with creating a backport as onHow do I upgrade SABnzbd to a new version?
It's simple! All your settings are stored away from the main sabnzbd folder, and will be kept between upgrades.
...
For OSX / Linux just overwrite your current sabnzbd folder with the new files.
